Design Features:
- We kept this plain false ceiling totally flat. No drops and no fancy patterns up there. That's why your eyes go straight to the sofa and the wall finish. The whole hall just feels calm.
- You’ll notice the cove lighting is only on three sides. We skipped the window wall on purpose because in the daytime the sunlight already does the job there.
- Inside the cove there’s a warm LED strip sitting on a small ledge. At night it throws a soft glow across the ceiling.
- Gypsum boards sit on a metal frame and the joints are hard to spot once it’s finished. It’s a light false ceiling and the fan and speaker wiring stays neatly hidden inside.
- The paint is a matte white and we chose it for a reason. It bounces light around so the hall looks brighter and feels a little bigger than it is.
A three side cove false ceiling is a flat ceiling with hidden cove lights along three walls while the fourth wall has none. It is usually planned when one wall has large windows or a balcony door.
Mostly because a plain false ceiling looks clean and works in almost any home. Cleaning it is easy too. That’s why it’s one of the most practical home interior design ideas for families who want something calm that won’t feel old in a few years.
Yes it can. POP is shaped on site so the cove edges come out nice and smooth. A new POP ceiling design with a three side cove also handles walls that aren’t perfectly straight which is common in a lot of Indian flats.
Sure. A wooden strip above the TV unit or the sofa adds warmth. A wooden ceiling design for hall spaces works best when the rest of the ceiling stays white, so the room doesn’t start feeling heavy.
Warm white in the 2700K to 3500K range is best. Anything in a cooler tone and your living hall starts looking like an office in the evening. Don’t cheap out on the driver though because a bad one is usually why lights start flickering.
It does the opposite. The light pulls your eyes up so the ceiling feels higher than it is. That’s why it works so well in living hall design for flats with normal ceiling height.
Once every 4 or 5 years is fine for a plain false ceiling in most homes. A soft dry cloth can take care of the dust. If a hairline crack is seen then patch it up first and then paint.
