Room Size: 12x14ft
Design Features:
- The round LED lights here sit right on the ceiling. Nothing is cut into it. That’s why the false ceiling stays thin and works so well in rooms where the slab is low or the concrete beams show.
- Above the bed there’s a strip of wooden laminate that breaks up all the white. A bedroom with only white can feel a bit cold and this wood fixes that.
- The gypsum ceiling is flat behind it you can hide all the electrical wiring. It also gives the lights and the wooden panel a smooth surface to sit on.
- These lights throw light all around. They’re lined up in a row and give plenty of light for everyday stuff like reading or folding laundry. In a busy Indian home that matters a lot.
- If want to change the lights later there will be no issue. They are on the surface so you can swap them out without breaking the ceiling. This makes it a great pick for rented flats or a quick room makeover.
These lights are screwed onto the ceiling instead of being pushed inside it. You don’t need to cut deep holes so they’re perfect when the ceiling drop is small.
Surface lights take less time to put up and swapping a bulb is no big deal. Recessed ones sit inside the ceiling, so they look neater. For low ceiling go for surface lights. It’s simple and practical home interior decor that saves you height.
Of course. Add a wooden panel over the bed and a plain gypsum false ceiling suddenly feels warm and cosy. Most wooden ceiling designs for bedrooms use laminate or veneer strips on top of gypsum. They’re light in weight and need very little care.
We’d suggest neutral white which is about 4000K. It’s bright enough for daily use without being harsh. Add a bedside lamp with a warm bulb. Come bedtime you can turn the ceiling lights off and let the lamp do the rest.
Yes, it works in halls too. Many false ceiling designs for hall spaces use surface lights in a row or a grid. They’re handy in halls with beams where fitting recessed lights is tricky.
It doesn’t take much. Run a dry cloth over it once a week to get rid of dust. Don’t use a wet cloth on the wood. A mild wood cleaner every two or three months is enough to keep that fresh look.
Less is more here. Keep the lines clean and don’t go overboard with lights. A bit of wood next to matte white makes the room feel up to date. In our view a simple bedroom ceiling design with well placed lights beats a heavy layered one any day.
